Logistic audit

Logistic audit

Logistic Audit is usually the first phase of long term projects of logistic optimization. As always, being led by the desire to offer a complex solution to our clients, we follow the Logio know-how (verified by experience again and again). The process itself first identifies the real problems which, consequently, leads to determining the goals of the optimization and, finally, to the optimization project.

Problem Identification

The first part – crucial for the success of the whole project – is the concrete identification of the problem. Listening to the client, we define the goals and criteria for future evaluation of the project’s successfulness. The client’s ideas are specified in the detailed monitoring of the logistic systems; typically by the means of logistic scan or – in a more sophisticated way – by logistic audit.

The outcome of the audit

The essence of the logistic audit is to get a detailed overview of all the parts of the logistic functions and processes. Their effectiveness is then evaluated based on information that are gathered by various procedures. First, objective measurements include important characteristics such as time and quantity (quantity of inventory, quantity of dispatched shipments, time to prepare a shipment to be dispatched, etc.). The subjective measurements, on the other hand, are interviews and meetings with the client’s representatives ranging from the top management to the hand workers. The big picture is then complemented by the photo documentation and the experience from similar projects that is provided by our best consultants.

Goals of the Audit

The first goal of the logistic audit is – along with the detailed description of the current state of the logistic processes – identification of ‘sore‘ points of the logistic system and suggestions for their elimination. The logistic audit offers overview of the complexity of the identified problems (and their solution) and it also describes the potential benefits of the proposed solutions (either financial or time-related). The solution that scores the best on both of the above mentioned lines is then selected and implemented. The selected problems are clearly identified and specified.

Typically, our clients get to

  • identify the ‚sore‘ points in the logistic system
  • see various concrete proposals to increase the effectivity of their logistic processes
  • evaluate the returnability of the investments and benefits of different variants of the proposal
  • use the proposed solution as a platform for further strategic development of the company
